His checks eventually kept moving foward sometimes by massive leaps

In retrospect Shins are much shorter but also always move forward
Whereas Subarus were fulfillment based
But what made his actually much worse is that he could fulfill them wrong and be stuck in a future where he completely fucked up

Shin is always stuck going foward regardless but he only has to die no other requirements and his deaths are usually pretty tame in comparison

it is always in subaru's favor( not any otherone). he never ever end up with a deadend since it is HER will. what subaru is trying to do is use that to save EVERYONE ( he is even greedier than echidna). i mean this and that are not the same. subaru can always move forward and achieve ANYTHING he wants if he give up on others. ( that is what echidna suggested)

as re zero is my favorite anime you are very wrong in saying that his check points are suited to his favor, literally in the first episode of season 2 he is put in a situation where he cannot save rem nor can he go back and she is only saved from the friends he made in the Beteleguese arc by pure chance, if he had done it any other way she would have been dead also different timelines are canon to the universe you can read the what if stories created by the author himself online and Arc 6 onword he is put in loops of near instant death so i dont think you are right at all.

A dead end to Subaru is one where he cant save people

Yeah!! Subaru's deaths are just so brutal like when Elsa opened his stomach and when Rem just beat him to death using her weapon those are just one of the worst way to die unlike Shin where he just got shot in the head and back to the checkpoint.
